Summer Band is Here!
Mondays - Saturdays
July 21 - August 12, 2025
If you're new to the JET Band and Color Guard, welcome! If not - welcome back!
The first step for you is to join our organization. Each student and at least one parent/guardian from each family needs to be registered on our website. This is where you will make payments, find our calendar, be able to sign up to participate as a volunteer and much more!
We have a MANDATORY Parent Zoom Meeting on July 14, time TBD (in the evening). During this we will clarify & handle the procedures for sizing, ordering, paying, and receiving all needed items for the upcoming year. (i.e. practice uniforms, duffle bags, marching shoes, concert tuxedo shirts, etc.) We'll also go over the information for guard gear, as it's a little different!
At least one parent from each family should attend.
Join us on Facebook at JET Band Boosters. This is sometimes the quickest way to get your questions answered or for us to get information to you.
The primary contact method for the directors is through the Remind app. You can download the Remind app from your App Store. There's a few Remind groups for the band:
For the Remind codes you need, please reach out to your section leader or a member of the booster board.
We know there are many new parents this year, and there's a lot of information to navigate. Check out our Parent 101 page for more info!
Freshman parents - don't hesitate to reach out to our Freshman Mentor, Amy Solomon at mentor@jetband.org
Students should have already been in contact with their section leader! If not, email Mr. Ary to get your students contact information to the student leadership group.
Required Forms
All students must have a physical on file with Katy ISD to participate in band events. The physical form can be found here.
Parents should also complete the Parent/Guardian Authorization for Extracurricular Travel form found here.
Submit these forms to Katy ISD Fine Arts Rank One before summer band begins. Schedule your physicals TODAY, the doctor's office will fill up as we get closer to the end of summer!
Summer band is a four week event, starting July 21st at 7am!
Sometimes practice times have to be adapted due to district training and events. Keep an eye on the Director's Calendar for updates to the summer schedule.
Summer band rehearsals are MANDATORY. If you absolutely must miss a day, email Mr. Ary and have your student reach out to their section leader.
The JET Fuel crew will be offering summer lunches during camp. Keep an eye out for more information as we get closer to July! Students can also bring lunch - but they can't leave campus to pick anything up.
JET Activity Fees
Dues can be paid all at once, or in monthly installments using the STORE tab above.
Dues for the 2025/2026 school year are $825 dollars, split into the following payments:
June - $225
July - $200
August - $200
September - $200
Dues are due on the first of the given month. A late fee of $25 for the July, August, and September payments will begin to be assessed on the 15th of each month.
If your student will be using a school provided instrument, then you must pay the KISD instrument usage fee of $100 directly to KISD via the Pay 'N Go system. The fee is payable per instrument so if your student uses more than one instrument, you may owe multiple fees. Percussion students only pay one fee.
Each student must also pay a course fee of $50 directly to Katy ISD. This fee is used to pay for bussing/transportation to and from UIL Events.
The link to pay the course fee and instrument fee will be available after the school year begins.
Summer Band Checklist
Summer band is hot, and intense! To make the experience a little easier, here's a checklist of items we suggest every student have for summer band:
- A BIG water jug! It's hot in the South Texas summer, and you need to stay hydrated. Get a jug that holds at least a half-gallon of water, and make sure it's insulated to keep it cold!
- Sunscreen - With that heat comes UV rays, and if you don't want to be roasted and toasted, get some strong sweatproof SPF.
- Hat or Visor
- Sunglasses
- Sweat Band
- Small cooling or sweat towel - Noticing a pattern yet? It's hot out there, and these things will help keep you on the lot and functional!
- White T-Shirts - you need to wear a white shirt EVERY DAY to summer band. The white shirts help the directors and drum majors see the forms better, as well as being the best color for the heat.
- A t-shirt in your Section Color - the one exception to the White T-Shirt rule is section shirt day! Check with your section leader to see what color you should get. (Check Michael's for plain tees in a variety of colors.)
- Hey Guard! - your shirt requirements are a little different! Guard members will need blue, pink, and green t-shirts, racerbacks, or lightweight hoodies. Contact your captains for more information!
- GOOD athletic shoes - You'll be on your feet a lot! Good shoes are important to keep you in the game. We recommend looking at the DCI's annual list of podiatrist recommended marching practice shoes found here.
- Knee Pads - Here's one that might surprise new parents and students. During the show the choreography may ask you to take a knee during certain steps. Lightweight knee pads will protect your knees from the scrapes and burns from the pavement.
- Valve Oil, Cork Grease , Electrical Tape or other instrument specific items - Be sure that you have what you need to keep your instrument in top shape. Speaking of....
- Your Instrument / Flags - I know, I know, but there's always one. Check your pads, valves, and silks and address any issues before you start camp.
- Your Music - In a....
- Flipfolder and plenty of Pages - Be ready for anything and keep that music handy.
- Some sidewalk chalk - no need for the whole box, just a couple pieces in a ziplock bag will do
- Your phone - Believe it or not you'll be using the UDB app on your phone to see where you're supposed to be on the field. Your leadership will give you more information.
- A fanny pack or belt bag - to hold the things you need on the practice field.
- Hey Guard! Per Mr. House, the fanny pack/belt bag is required!
- A small backpack or drawstring bag - This gear list is getting long, and you need something to carry it all in! And last but maybe most important of all...
- Deodorant! - Please, for all our sakes, there's 200 of you - get the good stuff!
